Dr. Ernie Terrado has been at the forefront of renewable energy development for more than 30 years. Before joining the World Bank in 1981, he was in charge of the first renewable energy program developed by the Philippine Government. His presentation discusses recent developments in the field of renewable energy in countries like the Philippines, including the topics of off-grid electrification and carbon finance.

Engineer Jun Baclay, from the Department of Energy in the Philippines, shares his first-hand experiences as an engineer working in a solar electrification project in Pangan-an Island, in the Visayas region of the Philippines. In his presentation, he discusses the project objectives and timeline, the sources of funding for this project, the stakeholders involved in this endeavor, and the challenges that the team encountered in developing a solar electrification project in the region.
